do i need a plug in?

Postby fran21356 on Thu Jul 19, 2012 5:29 am

I'm playing temporarily on lap top till my pc is fixed. My PC has Vista and i downloaded a plug in to allow me to play online. The lap top I have has windows 7 operating system and i can't access online play. Is there a plug in that I can download for windows 7 or will anything else work to allow for online play. i'm playing in the Harbour league and don't want to leave my teammates shorthanded. Thanks for your help

And make sure you allow Links thru your firewall

I downloaded the links country club link that you for me, thank you. But i still can't access online play. how do I access my firewall and allow Links203? I'm not very computer literate, so thanks for holding my hand through this process.

go to control panel, open system security, then open windows firewall
then top left side look for allow programs through firewall, when open scan down and make sure Links 2003 is checked.

so does the windows firewall default to blocking programs from accessing the internet? it's been a looonnnngggg time since i've used it. i was a long time user of zonealarm, and in the early versions, there was some tweaking required. i've been using norton internet security for the last several years, installed links a few times, but have never had to tweak nis.

one of those old dog things. (8

I checked the firewall and Links is allowed but still won't connect. Would the Vista plug help and would it cause my computer any damage?

My PC runs on Vista operating system and I had to download a plug in after i got it to play on Links. now that I think about it, it was probably the link that you sent me that I downloaded last time. Guess i'll wait for the PC to be repaired. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it Terrell.

oooooohhhhh. sorry about that, now i'm up to speed. but you actually technically mean a 'patch'.

ok, so if installing v1.07 doesn't fix your problem, you can try this:

http://lspn.net/server_switch/LSPN_MAIN_L2K3.exe

from one of gibby's posts. (8

I thought of something, I didn't have Win Zip installed when I did the first download. I'm going to install Win Zip and see if that does it. If not I'll download the patch. Thanks agin for your help.

Your best bet would be to get a family member, or friend, who is familiar with the basics of the operation of a computer, to help you.
