Anyone out there like playing Firestone?

One of the first courses I ever played and I recall taking ages before I managed 10 under for a round. Worth a celebration when that happened. I still find it a tough place to get a top score as any miss snap on an approach can leave nasty bendy putts. So if you dont have a good snap going the putter needs to be really hot , or at times the chipper if the approach was really bad.

I decided to play the pro event and get it done as quick as I could but sadly with a wonderfully inconsistent snap.Just couldnt get it right at least 50% of the time and despite some lovely putts there were plenty where I didnt see the line at all. Not helped in round 2 on an early hole where I aimed down the wrong fairway off the T and smacked the drive into a tree LOL.

Might have to play champ challenging on it to see how much fun the putting is especially as there are rounds of M/F and F/F

Yeah, not one of my favorite courses. That course would be quite the challenge in C/C. -10 would be a good score I think in those conditions.

I care for Firestone about as much as I do Augusta, which is not very much.

A tad angry after my football team was garbage again tonight so decided to give the C/C event a go. Absolutely delighted to squeeze to the 10 under target. I played well only missing one fairway and one green.

Both of those misses were on the 3rd where I pulled the T shot left , hit a tree and went further left to the adjacent fairway. Tried for too much next shot and it went further left off another tree. Thankfully i was far enough back to over the top , hit a great approach and managed a par.

Managed just 7 good snaps on approaches to get most of the birdies but also holed 2 nice benders more by good luck than anything else. It's a S/S round so not as tricky as it would be on faster greens but I just looked and the remaining are never quicker than M/M so maybe manageable.

Got the first two rounds in. That 3rd hole I snapped early both rounds off the tee and was lucky to get boogie. If the pin is anywhere but on the bottom of that green in the next two rounds I can see a 4, 5 or 6 putts happening. Yes, going to be an adventure with the remaining conditions. I doubt that I will be under par for either round. Let's see if anyone else is going to give it a try?

Edit: Wow, very nice 3rd round Roy. Good percentage off the tee and GIR. Maybe the pins aren't too bad.

Gosh, I was looking at the conditions for regular pro event and not C/C. I played bad that 3rd round but thought it was going to be M/F and it was M/M. Also the last round I thought it was going to be F/F but not at all. I still was on the wrong side of most of the holes and off the tee was not good. Several 3 iron punch out to get up somewhat close to the green. Was lucky to get back to under par before I finished.

No doubt at all my T shots were the making of the scores and two that I messed up i got really good pars. Not sure I hit that mant fairways playing pro.
